Where our fish &
seafood comes from.

Samaki Direct buys along the Tanzanian coast and Zanzibar through coastal fishing communities and supply networks. Working across several fishing grounds is how we keep supply steadier through the season.

The coast we source from

FSH 01Indian Ocean coast

Our seafood is sourced right along Tanzania’s coast — north to south and across to Zanzibar. No single ground lands everything every week, so buying across several is what lets us honour standing orders and be straight with customers about what the season is bringing.

Seasons and the catch

FSH 03Availability

Seafood is a natural product. Species, sizes and volumes change with the season, the weather and the day’s landings, so we quote on what is actually available rather than a fixed list.

Lobster and crab are seasonal lines, and the fish species on offer rotate with what is landed. When a line is short, we tell you early and suggest an alternative.

Fresh, chilled or frozen

FSH 04How it reaches you
Fresh

Supplied on ice and never frozen, for cooking soon after delivery. Species and sizes follow what the coast is landing.

Suits

Homes, restaurants, hotel kitchens

Chilled

Kept cold on crushed ice in insulated boxes from handling to delivery, so it holds its condition between catch and kitchen.

Suits

Supermarkets, distributors, export

Every quote and order states which one you are getting, so you always know how your seafood was handled.
