Sweet, crisp carrots grown in Tanzania’s cool highlands — washed and graded to size, cold-chain handled and packed for wholesale markets, hotels and export buyers.

Carrot (Daucus carota) is a cool-season root vegetable grown for its sweet, crisp taproot and its long keeping quality. A source of dietary fibre and the pigment beta-carotene, it is a year-round staple in fresh markets and food service. ShambaFresh supplies fresh Tanzanian carrots to commercial buyers — sourced through our own farming and a trusted outgrower network, washed and graded to specification, and handled cool from harvest to dispatch.
We supply carrots as a fresh, topped root for wholesale, food service and export, washed or field-run to your preference. Roots are lifted at maturity, washed, sorted for size, shape and finish, and packed to the net or carton format your market requires — to your buying window rather than a fixed pack-out.
Carrots do best in cooler conditions and deep, loose soils, and Tanzania’s highland areas — regions such as Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Arusha and the Kilimanjaro slopes — provide the moderate temperatures and free-draining soils that produce straight, well-coloured roots. We aggregate supply through our outgrower network for a consistent, traceable base rather than one-off open-market lots.
Our carrots are grown with organic-minded practices — planned rotation, careful soil preparation for straight roots, and integrated pest management where possible. Loose, stone-free seedbeds and even moisture are what give smooth, unforked roots, and outgrowers are supported with agronomy guidance so the crop grades out cleanly, season after season.

Every consignment is inspected against the specification agreed with the buyer — root size and shape, colour, smoothness, and freedom from splitting, greening at the crown, or forking. Broken, misshapen or off-size roots are set aside, so what a buyer receives matches what was ordered.
Carrots are lifted once roots have reached the size and colour your market wants, then topped to remove the leaf. Handling gently at lifting matters because bruised or snapped roots do not store or travel well; roots are moved out of the sun quickly and washed to remove field soil before grading.
After washing, roots are sorted to remove anything off-grade, then graded by size and length and by quality class. Grading to a consistent calibre is what lets a buyer pack to a fixed retail or food-service standard, so we grade to the size band and pack weight you specify.
Carrots are packed to your format — commonly vented poly or mesh bags (for example 5–10 kg) or bulk cartons and crates — and palletised for cool transport. Washed retail packs and bulk food-service formats are both available to specification.
Carrots are excellent keepers when handled cold: held near 0°C at very high humidity, topped roots hold condition for weeks. Between grading and dispatch we keep them cool and covered to prevent wilting and whitening of the surface and to preserve their crisp snap.
For export we move carrots by refrigerated sea reefer where volumes and lead time allow, and by refrigerated road for regional East African orders. The route is matched to the destination and the buyer’s schedule, with the cold chain maintained from packhouse to delivery.
Grown across a range of highland altitudes with successional planting, carrots can be supplied for much of the year, with volumes varying by region and season. We will share the current position against your enquiry.
Supply is aggregated across our farming and outgrower network, with staggered planting to support repeatable volumes rather than one-off lots. Tell us your target volume, size band and delivery schedule and we will confirm what we can meet.
We prepare fresh carrots for buyers end to end — sourcing, washing, grading, packing and arranging the export documentation the destination requires. Roots are presented to your size, class and packaging specification so they arrive clean, crisp and ready for your distribution or retail.
For wholesale buyers, distributors and food service we supply carrots in mesh bags or bulk crates to an agreed size class and pack weight, on a schedule that fits your business. Pricing, MOQ and lead times are provided on enquiry.
Carrots travel well thanks to their natural keeping quality, suiting the Gulf and regional East African trade by refrigerated road and sea reefer. See what we supply to each market.

Send us your target volumes, grades and destination and we’ll come back with pricing, MOQ and lead times. This is a B2B enquiry — no online checkout.
Both. We source carrots through our farming and outgrower network in the Tanzanian highlands, wash, grade and pack them, and prepare them for wholesale buyers at home and for regional and international buyers, arranging the export documentation the destination requires.
