Farm Selection Process
We work with over 200 carefully selected partner farms across Tanzania. Each farm must meet our strict criteria:
1. Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
All our partner farmers follow GAP standards, ensuring safe and sustainable farming methods. This includes proper water management, soil health maintenance, and responsible pesticide use.
2. Food Safety Certification
Farms must have or be working toward relevant food safety certifications. We conduct regular audits to ensure compliance.
3. Proximity to Delivery Routes
To maintain freshness, we prioritize farms within efficient delivery routes. This means produce spends minimal time in transit.
Harvesting Standards
Timing is everything when it comes to harvesting:
- Leafy Greens: Harvested in the cool early morning to prevent wilting
- Root Vegetables: Dug at peak maturity for optimal flavor
- Tomatoes: Picked at the "breaker" stage for perfect ripening
- Herbs: Cut before flowering for best flavor
Quality Control at Every Step
At the Farm
Our field officers inspect produce before it leaves the farm. Any item that doesn't meet our standards is left behind.
At the Processing Center
Produce undergoes a second inspection, washing (where appropriate), and sorting. We check for size, color, and any signs of damage.
Before Delivery
A final quality check ensures your order meets our standards. We replace any item that doesn't pass inspection—no questions asked.
Our Cold Chain Promise
Temperature control is critical for maintaining freshness. Our refrigerated vehicles and storage facilities keep produce at optimal temperatures throughout the journey.
